Common questions about how the site works and the EMTUSA data it shows.

Is this the official EMTUSA website?

No. BusGijón Info is an independent project that reuses EMTUSA’s public data and presents it in a different way. We do not run the service and we cannot handle fares or complaints.

The official website and app are at emtusa.es, and the City Council’s page is at gijon.es.

Are the arrival times real?

Yes. They are the arrivals EMTUSA calculates from each bus’s position, and a stop’s board refreshes every 10 seconds.

They are still estimates: traffic, intermediate stops or a diversion can make a bus arrive earlier or later than expected. That is why the minutes sometimes jump or a bus disappears from the list.

What does "Out of service" mean?

  • Out of service: no arrival is expected at that stop in the next few minutes. Usually no line runs there at that time.
  • Red “information not available” warning: EMTUSA’s arrivals service is not responding right now, so we cannot show data. It is normally temporary: try again in a few minutes.

How do I save my favourite stops?

Tap the star on a stop. Your favourites appear on the home page so you can check their next arrivals at a glance.

They are stored only on your device, with no account or sign-up. If you clear your browser data or switch device, you will not see them.

What are the búho (night) lines?

They are the night lines, tagged Búho in the lines list. They cover the city once the daytime lines have stopped running.

The búho lines also offer an on-demand drop-off for women travelling alone: ask the driver one stop in advance, it is drop-off only through the front door, and it works on Fridays, Saturdays and every day of July and August.

What are the on-demand stop sections on the M lines?

Some M lines (M1 to M4) have sections with no fixed stops where the bus only stops if you ask it to.

  • To board: stand somewhere safe and clearly visible and give a clear hand signal.
  • To get off: ring the bell in advance; the bus will stop at the safest possible place.

That is why an M line may show very few stops on the map even though it passes along your street.

Where do I buy a ticket and how much does it cost?

We do not manage fares. Official information about prices, tickets and passes is at emtusa.es and on the Gijón City Council website.

Can I install the site as an app?

Yes, busgijon.info is an installable web app (PWA):

  • Android: open the browser menu and choose “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”.
  • iPhone or iPad: in Safari, tap Share and then “Add to Home Screen”.

It opens full screen, without the browser bar, and uses the same data as the website.

What data do you collect?

Only cookieless analytics with no IP addresses: page views and anonymous actions to understand what is useful. There are no accounts, no profiling and no data selling.

We explain it in detail on the privacy page.

I found a problem, how do I report it?

Use the feedback button 💬 in the footer. There you can describe the problem, a suggestion or anything you like: reports reach our panel and are published as an issue on GitHub.
